LEARNING MODEL AND COMMITMENT
Johnston County Public School has partnered with EdOptions Academy (Edmentum) to develop a K-12 virtual school that is rigorous, engaging, and built to both state and national standards. All courses are taught online by highly qualified, state-certified teachers experienced in online instruction. The JCVA requires a commitment of time and effort from accepted students and their parents/guardians.
EdOptions Academy is a fully accredited K-12 online school that offers award-winning curriculum, certified teachers and accredited high school diplomas to schools and students who need flexible learning options. EdOptions Academy partners with schools, districts, and parents/guardians to deliver rigorous, research-based, and pedagogically sound curriculum.
Johnston County Virtual Academy teachers have expertise in engaging and connecting learning to real-life experiences and the program offers flexible program implementation and management designed for all virtual learning environments. Teachers are available to provide online instruction and support to their students as they learn to navigate virtual learning. Edmentum Teachers are available for support, provide weekly live lessons around content specific topics, provide on-demand help through teacher staffed live help sessions.
The JCVA requires a commitment of time and effort from accepted students and their parents/guardians. Additionally, an understanding that if any child has special needs for services that are not offered by Johnston County Virtual Academy, it may be necessary for him/her to remain at their assigned home school in order to receive those services.
Students who do not meet the expectations of the JVCA may be required to return to in person learning.
