Mrs. Connie Barbour
Hello! I am so glad to be here at Cooper Academy as the 5th grade math teacher. I am originally from Florida but have lived all over. My father served in US Army and we lived in Europe and all over the United States. I also joined the US Army after completing my AA degree and served for 6 years in Panama, Germany, Alabama, and Florida.
My experience in education includes working as an administrative assistant at a community college, the NC Department of Public Instruction, and Neuse Charter School. I finally decided it was time to be in the classroom, so I served as a substitute teacher while completing my BA in Elementary Education through Western Governors University.
When I have spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, doing creative and crafty things, and spending time with my family.
My husband is a JoCo native and a former teacher at Smithfield Middle School and West Johnston High School. He is now a Career and Technical Education consultant with the NC Department of Public Instruction. My step-son is a teacher at Garner High School, and our daughter is a high school sophomore.
