7th Grade English Language Arts, AIG Certified, BA in English for North Carolina State University, National Board Certified, and will be done with my MS in New Literacies and Global Learning in December of 2019.

I have been teaching for 12 years, and I have been able to call myself a Gator for 11 of those years. I love to read and write and hope to share my passion with the students who enter my classroom. I look forward to beginning this year's journey with you and your child.

    The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian tells the story of Junior, a Native American boy who is determined to take his future into his own hands. He leaves his troubled school on the rez to find an education and life he feels he deserves. Heartbreaking and comical, this novel gives insight into the struggle of the search of one's identity.

  • Board of Education Special Session set for August 27

    The Johnston County Board of Education will hold a special session on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The closed session meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and be held in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.

Here Comes the Bus is a school bus tracking app that gives parents real-time bus location information and alerts to get students to the bus stop on time.   • New deadline in JCEF grant process

    The Johnston County Education Foundation has changed its grant process from a three cycle a year process, to a once a year process. The grant deadline will now be November 15th each year and Grant Patrol will be held on the first Wednesday of December.
