Welcome to the 2021-22 School Year at Smithfield Middle! I teach the brand new Career Investigations class for 6th-8th graders and can't wait to explore the future possibilites with you! During the first few weeks we will take time to learn more about our personal interests and skills, and research careers that are a good match via our Xello Dashboards. We will learn about our awesome Career Lab and select modules that most interest us. Before we start those - we will take a peek at the world of PERSONAL FINANCE! I have a feeling we will all feel more motivated about choosing the right career after seeing how much our dream lifestyle will cost each month.
My career started right after graduating from U.C. Berkeley with degrees in Economics and Business Administration. As a Marketing Specialist in California, my first professional job was designing software products. I eventually moved on to Program Management, and ended up as a Director of Ecommerce for a large Real Estate company. I have truly enjoyed all of my career positions - especially my current (and favorite) role as a Middle School Teacher!
I have been married for 35+ years to "Mr. T" - a Science and Math teacher here at Smithfield Middle. We have four daughters, one son--in-law, and 3 "grand dogs". I love exploring new places and cultures, spending time with family and friends, gardening, and working with youth at church.
I am available to meet up with parents or answer questions any time. Just call or email me. The best time is during First Block. I look forward to getting to know you!
