Hello! My name is Ellen Beene, and I’m excited to be your Life Skills teacher this year. I’ve been involved in special needs work for the better part of 35 years. I worked as a special needs ministry editor for 27 years, developing and editing Bible study curriculum for special needs adults and older teens. In 2012, I moved to North Carolina to help grow Able to Serve, Inc. While there I developed a day program for intellectually and developmentally disabled adults. My responsibilities included developing the curriculum and leading classes. For the last 3 years I've been an EC teacher assistant here at West.
I know this year is going to look and feel different than anything we've ever done before. We all are working together to make it the best possible year for your student. I'll be there for you to help ensure your student has a successful year and continues to learn, grown, and develop into the best possible person they can be.
You can reach me by email or by calling 919-934-7333. ext. 6024.

This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
As students in grades K-5 begin returning to school, the curbside locations for free meals will now be located at each middle and high school. The curbside meal locations at our elementary schools will end on Friday, Oct. 2 and will open at the middle and high schools on Monday, Oct. 5.
