Mr. Curtis Brown
As School Counselors, we are here to help all students achieve academic success, help with emotional support and different strategies, help students with developing their interpersonal skills, and help with post-secondary planning such as plans after high school. This could be a four year college, two year college, military, or even going right into the work force.
Smithfield Selma Professional School Guidance Counselor: 2020-2021
Greetings Smithfield Community! My name is Curtis Brown, Jr. and I have the privilege of serving the Smithfield community as a Professional School Counselor this year.
Who Am I? I am an educator, husband, father, Pastor, and community leader, and I serve in several capacities in and around my community. Before beginning my career as a Professional School Guidance Counselor, I worked with students as a classroom Business teacher in Cumberland County. My desire was to work with students in a different capacity so I returned to UNC Pembroke and received my Professional School Counseling certification.
In addition to helping students, I also have a passion to help families, so I returned to school and earned a Masters' Degree in Human Services/ Family and Marital Counselor. I am glad to say that I love being in the high school counseling setting and doing what I truly love, and that is helping other people. I am looking forward to my new journey here at SSS and for great things to happen. Go Spartans!!!!
