Smithfield Selma Professional School Guidance Counselor: 2020-2021

Greetings Smithfield Community! My name is Curtis Brown, Jr. and I have the privilege of serving the Smithfield community as a Professional School Counselor this year.

Who Am I? I am an educator, husband, father, Pastor, and community leader and serve in several capacities in and around my community. Before beginning my career as a Professional School Guidance Counselor, I worked with students as a classroom Business teacher in Cumberland County. My desire was to work with students in a different capacity so returned to UNCPembroke and received my Professional School Counseling certification.

In addition to helping students, I also have a passion to extend and help families so I return to school and earned a Masters' Degree in Human Service/ Family aand Martial Counselor.  I am glad to say that I love being in the high school counseling setting and doing what I truly love, and that is helping other people. I am looking forward to my new journey here at SSS and for great things to happen. Go Spartans!!!!

  • Updated Social Distancing Procedures

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
