Mr. Gray's History as a Teacher

My name is Darrell Gray and I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  After graduating from high school, I attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania.  In May of 2003, I graduated from Clarion University with duel degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.  After graduation, I was a substitute for approximately 5 months.  During my time as a substitute, I held a long term substitute job at a local middle school teaching 7th and 8th graders computer skills.  In December of 2003, I was hired to teach fifth grade at Zeb Vance Elementary (located in Vance County, NC).  While teaching at Zeb Vance, I decided to get my Master's Degree in Reading Education and in May of 2009 graduated from East Carolina University.  I have been teaching at this school since the 2009-2010 school year.

Mr. Gray's Hobbies and Interests

Growing up I enjoyed playing video games and playing sports (baseball, football, and basketball).  As an adult I enjoy watching sports, reading, and playing video games.  I am a huge fan of the University of Pittsburgh (football and basketball), the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.  As a result, I spend a lot of my free time watching and listening to sporting events.  In August of 2009, I got married and moved from Henderson, NC to Smithfield, NC where my wife and I currently live.  Whenever I'm not working on school work I try to spend time with my wife and our daughter and son.
