Mrs. Mrs. Blake
Hello Riverwood Elementary! I am thrilled to be serving the students, teachers, parents and community as part of the RES Administration Team this year. Born and raised in Hawaii, I now call Johnston County my home.
My family made the move to Johnston County in 2016, after my husband retired from the U.S. Navy. My daughter Brooklyn, will be starting her Senior year at West Johnston High School and my son Tyler, recently joined the U.S. Army and we couldn’t be prouder. We also have another family member, our dog Nui.
I have spent the past 14 years as an educator working in Florida, Hawaii and North Carolina. I earned my B.A. in Journalism from Hawaii Pacific University and started my journey as a teacher after moving to Clay County, Florida. I earned an M.A. in Secondary Education also from Hawaii Pacific University while working at Kailua High School in Kailua, Hawaii. I have taught with Johnston County Schools for the past two years as an English Teacher at West Johnston High School, Go Wildcats!
In 2018, I started my dream journey after being accepted in the Principal’s Leadership Academy at N.C. State Go Pack!.Currently, I am fulfilling my internship at Riverwood and I couldn’t be luckier to be learning from Mrs. White and Mrs. Dunn. I look forward to graduating in May 2020 with an M.A. in School Administration and the hope of becoming an Assistant Principal next school year .
Some of my favorite activities outside of school are: reading a really great book on the beach, hiking to a waterfall, playing scrabble, coaching flag football and binging my favorite shows on Netflix.
I am so delighted to be joining the Riverwood family. This is going to be a great year! Go RAMS!
