I am a fourth grade teacher at Cooper Academy. This is my third year at Cooper Academy. I have been a teacher for Johnston County Public schools for 6 years and teaching since 2001. Most of my career, I have taught 4th grade and I am excited to be back. I am a mother of three beautiful children and is orginally from Hartford, Connecticut. I am currently the math and science teacher. My team teacher, ELA and Social studies, is Mr. Burbank. In our classroom we believe in hard work, purposeful practice, learning from our mistakes, and showing respect to others. I love learning, hopefully you do too!

The last day of virtual school takes place on May 29th. We are planning staggered dates/times for curbside pick-up and drop-off of items at the school on June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. We are also planning carpool graduation parades to celebrate our preschool, kindergarten and 5th grade graduates on June 1 and 2. The schedule is as follows. Starting on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 rising 6th graders from Cooper Academy can register for elective classes on the Riverwood Middle School website. The link on the front page of their website will offer elective course descriptions, expectations, and directions on how to complete the google form.
As the school year comes to a close, please note that JCPS meal service will now operate at 9 sites during the summer months, rather than the previous 14. Summer meal service will begin Monday, June 1. Curbside meals will be served Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Benson Middle, Clayton Middle, Four Oaks Elementary, North Johnston Middle, Princeton Elementary, Selma Elementary, Smithfield-Selma High, West Clayton Elementary, and West Smithfield Elementary.
Attention parents of 4-year-olds: Are you interested in your child attending a free preschool program? The NC PreK program is designed to provide 4-year-old children with positive early learning experiences that support their development and prepare them for Kindergarten.
JCPS high schools will host “modified” traditional graduation ceremonies between Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - Saturday, August 1, 2020. Schools will communicate about specific graduation dates and ceremony times as we get closer to see what restrictions may limit our attendance participation.
