  • Changes in the North Carolina Immunization Law requires all children entering 7th grade to receive the following two vaccines:

Tdap Vaccine - One booster dose of Tdap vaccine for individuals who have not previously received it and are entering 7th grade or by 12 years of age, whichever comes first.

Meningococcal Vaccine – One dose for individuals entering 7th grade or by 12 years of age whichever comes first.

Please contact your medical provider to obtain these vaccines for your child. Appointments at the Johnston County Health Department are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call 919-989-5272 to schedule an appointment. In an effort to help us plan and avoid extended wait times for you, we would encourage each parent to call the Health Department to schedule an appointment for their child.

If your child has insurance other than Medicaid, please contact your child's insurance regarding coverage of these vaccines. Each patient referred from their private doctor will need a note or order from their child’s provider requesting vaccines and coverage status prior to making an appointment.

An authorized adult (18 or older) must accompany the child to the clinic. Please bring a copy of child's Immunization Record and Insurance Card.
