    • Smithfield Middle School Spelling Bee Winner

      Seventh grader, Omarii Bethea, competed against three eighth grade students, two other seventh grade students, and three sixth grade students and won in the sixteenth round of the school wide spelling bee. He will attend the county wide bee on February 28th at Selma Elementary beginning at 5:00pm. Come out to support your champion!

    • MathCounts Team Places in Third at County Competition

      Smithfield Middle placed 3rd in The JCPS County MathCounts competetion Thursday, January 17, 2019. 8th grade team members included Marquis Nichols, Jude Reece, Catherine Cepin, Justin Velasquez, coaches- Patience Hill and Kay Boyd. Other team members included 6th graders: Jimmy Reynoso Diaz and Logan Torres, 7th graders: Kevin Chen and Luis Claros-Garcia (not pictured) and coach Gary Boyd. Thanks for all your hard work throughout the year. Best wishes to our 3rd place team as you move on to the Regional competition in February.

    • All County Band

      Congratulations to the band students that auditioned for all county band Tuesday night. SMS and Mrs. Hoyle are very proud of your auditions. The following students will be representing SMS in the All County Band: Catherine Cepin made 1st Chair Flute in the 8th grade band, Colby Jones made 9th chair Clarinet in the 6th/7th grade band, Jude Reese placed 3rd Clarinet in the 8th grade band, Brittney Arana made 10th chair clarinet in the 8th grade band, Representing SmMS as the 1st chair Trumpet in the 6th/7th grade band is William Taylor, Hector Jaramillo placed 5th chair trombone, Vance Lawrence Made 1st chair String Bass.

    • Winter Arts Night

      Smithfield Middle School hosted a Winter Art Night on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 6:30. Performances were given by the Band and Chorus students led by Ms. Hoyle and Mr. Grant. Art students also had their work on display for parents, staff and students.

    • School Nutrition Staff Receives Golden Tray Award

      The Smithfield Middle School Nutrition Staff Received The Golden Tray Award. The Golden Tray Award is given by Johnston County Public Schools for increased lunch and breakfast participation. Congratulations to the School Nutrition Staff on their recognition by JCPS.
