      Congratulations goes to Francesca DiGiovanni, better known as Frankie, who competed in the district wide spelling bee last night. She went into the 9th round and was among the last 6 contestants! She did awesome! We are so proud of you!

    • 6th Grade Teachers Celebrate Valentine's Day

      6th Grade Teachers continue to build each other up by celebrating the individual contributions each teacher brings to the hallway. Last week, they shared words that describe each other on a bag then filled it with 'love'ly treats for Valentine's Day.

    • 8th Grade Social Studies Students Learn about Wig Wag Flag Codes

      On Thursday February 4, 2021, the 8th grade Social Studies classes learned about Wig Wag flag codes that were used during the Civil War. Students learned that the flag code system was used to help soldiers communicate across the battlefield. Students were able to practice the flag signals in a friendly competition. Teams raced to see who could figure out the messages spelled out in the Wig Wag flag code.

    • Board of Education Special Session set for March 1

      A special called session of Johnston County Board of Education has been called for Monday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m. in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield. To comply with the Governor’s Executive Order, only the board members will be allowed in the boardroom. However, the open session portions of the meeting and all announcements will be accessible to the public via livestream.

    • JCPS Virtual Academy Interest Survey

      Now more than ever, we are aware of the many different needs of our students and families. As we begin planning for the 2021-22 school year, we are seeking feedback from parents to gauge interest in establishing a Johnston County Public Schools Virtual Academy, as an alternative to the face-to-face instruction environment for students. We are asking for your input by completing an online interest survey.

      Johnston County Public Schools has developed a detailed plan to mark senior milestones, including prom and graduation, while adhering to guidance from the Johnston County Public Health Department and the CDC in regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
