Mrs. Megan Carraway
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am very excited to be a part of your child's 5th Grade Math and Science adventure!
I began my teaching career in Virginia 16 years ago where I taught first grade in Roanoke, VA for four years. I then began teaching in Cloverdale, VA with Botetourt County Schools where I taught fifth grade, third grade and second grade. During the summer months I worked on math curriculum development and created questions for math benchmarks for Botetourt County. I also served on the leadership team to aide in the decision making process for the school's improvement plan. In June of 2015 I moved to North Carolina and continued my teaching career with Johnston County Schools. In Johnston County, I have been a part of the Math Investigations Cohorts for 2nd grade and 5th grade. I also have partnered with NC State to collect data for a math research project entitled Project AIM. Additionally, I have mentored Sophmores and Juniors from NC State to complete their elementary education course requirements.
I am looking forward to working with you in helping your child succeed in the 5th Grade. I thank you ahead of time for all of your hard work and dedication to your child’s education!
Johnston County Public Schools is in the business of providing a holistic educational experience that affirms and prepares our students for successful lives by teaching not only academic disciplines but how to treat one another. We are aware of recent social media posts and other unacceptable actions that have brought attention to racial and political insensitivity, which this school district does not condone.
As the school year comes to a close, please note that JCPS meal service will now operate at 9 sites during the summer months, rather than the previous 14. Summer meal service will begin Monday, June 1. Curbside meals will be served Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Benson Middle, Clayton Middle, Four Oaks Elementary, North Johnston Middle, Princeton Elementary, Selma Elementary, Smithfield-Selma High, West Clayton Elementary, and West Smithfield Elementary.
Attention parents of 4-year-olds: Are you interested in your child attending a free preschool program? The NC PreK program is designed to provide 4-year-old children with positive early learning experiences that support their development and prepare them for Kindergarten.
