practice Accuplacer test for seniors interested in JCC will be given on February 10th and either the 11th or 12th (Wed. and Thurs or Friday).  The actual test, with a JCC representative, will be given on February 17th and 18th or 19th (Wed. and Thurs. or Fri.) in the computer lab.

Making College and Career Count

 Making College and Career Count is an in-school presentation program for our senior class. The one hour presentation will be delivered free to students and parents at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3rd (rescheduled) in the Auditorium.

The presentation is designed to help students begin to think about their next steps upon graduation.  The program also addresses important issues such as time management, choosing career paths, internships and financial planning.

Parents and/or guardians of SJ seniors are invited to attend. All seniors will be dismissed from class on Wednesday to attend the morning session.

UPDATES from the Scholarship Desk

Kohl's Kids Who care Scholarship Program: Any high school student who is age 13-18 can apply. Nominations are being accepted thru March 15th to honor eligible students who go above and beyond what is normally accepted of a child his/her age; volunteer efforts must have occurred in the last year. If any person who works with kids would like to nominate a student, please visit: www.kohlskids.com

NC Extension & Community Association, Inc.:  This $500 scholarship is available to any student, regardless of intent of major with preference given to those with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences. Students are asked to write on the impact that extension programming has had on their life. Applications can be picked up in guidance. Deadline: 2/12.

NC Farm Bureau R. Flake Shaw Scholarship Program:
Eligibility: interested students must have intent to pursue a career in agriculture or in an agriculturally related field; have financial need, have satisfactory grades, have an evident understanding of the agricultural and/or agribusiness community; and have leadership potential. Mrs. Peters has applications, but applications are available at the local Farm Bureau offices and at www.ncfb.org under program. Deadline: March 15th.
