Here at Corinth-Holders Elementary, all students participate in a school-wide reading program, called ARRRGH YOU READING , MATEY!!!! This is to ensure that each and every child is not only reading at home, but practicing to be more successful at learning to read and reading to comprehend. Each grade level requirements for reading are different. Kindergarten-Fifth graders all have different amounts of time they are required to read. Parents are to sign a reading log that is located in a plastic folder each week. According to Johnston County policy 3460, students can be assigned 15-30 minutes of additional reading homework. This is not an option for students here at CHES, it is an expectation!! We believe that practicing reading each night will empower and enable our students to become very successful readers, which in turn creates students who are successful in life!!!
