December 2 Message from our principal.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday and are ready for the final three weeks of school before the Christmas holiday. PTA asked me to remind families Monday is the last day to send in any fundraiser orders that you may have. Thank you all very much for participating in this fundraiser. We will also have a PTA meeting on Monday in the media center. Please come out and get involved in the wonderful things that PTA is doing at our school.
Mrs. Pugh, the school social worker, asked me to remind parents to send in notes regarding absences when your child returns to school. Please include your child's first and last name, reason for the absence, the date of the absence and the teacher's name. If a note is not sent in the absence will be considered unexcused. School attendance is vital for student success.
For the week ahead students will receive progress reports on Tuesday . Students in third through fifth grade will receive a report attached to their progress report. Third grade students will receive a report that gives information about the Beginning of Third Grade test that was given during the first month of school. The third grade test given this year tested the students on third grade material unlike the pre-test given in years past which had second grade material instead. Fourth and fifth grade students will receive Individual Student Reports for the subjects tested last school year on the End of Grade Tests. As a reminder these tests were also new and they tested new curriculum from the Common Core which is more rigorous than curriculum tested in the past.
And finally we have reason to celebrate; our Showcase Chorus was selected as finalists for the MIX101.5 Christmas Choir Competition. We do not know which day, Monday , Tuesday or Wednesday that we will be featured so please listen and vote to help our school win. You may vote as many times as you want during the voting period. The finalist with the most votes each day will move on to the final round of voting on Thursday .
