Must be 14 1/2 years or older Must be high school students Only Must attend Mandatory Parent/Student Meeting with parent or legal guardian Must sign all paperwork Must enroll in the Defensive Driving Course Parking Passes Require Completion of Alive at 25 Contact the Defensive Driving Program at JCC for more information (919-209-2213). Information for Parents from Out of State Did your family recently move from another state and you have questions about obtaining a North Carolina driver's license for your teen? -Johnston County has the highest rate of teen driving fatalities in North Carolina. -Eleven Johnston County teenagers were killed in car accidents in 2007 -Sixteen year olds are three times more likely to die in a car crash than other drivers. -Distractions are the #1 reason new drivers crash. -A teenage driver with a single teen passenger faces twice the risk of a fatal crash. -With 2 or more teen passengers, a fatal crash becomes 5 times more likely. -Two thirds of teens who die in car crashes are passengers of other teen drivers.
