American Indian education parent meeting scheduled

Johnston County Schools, in coordination with JCS American Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee, will hold a meeting on Feb. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at 
501 S. 2nd Street, Smithfield, in the 3rd floor conference room.

Johnston County Schools will be applying for the 2017-2018 Indian Education Formula Grant (Title VI of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act). If approved, Johnston County Schools will receive funds to provide supplemental services to American Indian children. The services will be based on assessment of needs of the unique educational, language, and culturally related academic needs of the American Indian and Alaska Native students.

This public hearing will provide an opportunity to all stakeholders to understand and offer recommendations to the 2017-2018 grant application.
