About the Superintendent
Dr. Ross Renfrow, JCS SuperintendentDr. David Ross Renfrow has served the students and community of Johnston County Schools for over 25 years and is a life-long native of Johnston County. He received his undergraduate degree and Master of School Administration degree from East Carolina University. Also, Dr. Renfrow received his Educational Doctorate in Educational Administration from East Carolina University.

The majority of Dr. Renfrow’s career has been in Johnston County where he currently serves as Superintendent. Previously, he served as Deputy Superintendent for the district and the Executive Director for Administrative Services. He also worked as a principal at North Johnston High School for four years, as well as opened the new Corinth Holders High School where he served for three years. He served as an assistant principal for North Johnston High School for five years and served as a teacher and coach at both South Johnston and Princeton High Schools for five years. Dr. Renfrow has made a tremendous impact in Johnston County serving in many capacities and has proven his commitment to the district.

Dr. Renfrow is an accomplished educator who has represented Johnston County Schools as the district’s Principal of the Year and as a Wachovia Regional Principal of the Year Finalist. He is a certified Professional Learning Communities facilitator and has served as a NCPAPA conference presenter. Dr. Renfrow is highly involved in his community in both recreational sports and his church.
